Process

How 18dev works

A clear, six-stage delivery process from first conversation to launch and beyond. Each stage has a defined output you review and approve.

Discover

Before anything is designed, we spend time understanding your business: what you do, who your customers are, the problem the website needs to solve, the commercial objective, and any constraints on budget, timeline or content. This phase produces a written brief both parties agree on before work begins.

Define

We confirm the scope in writing: pages, search structure and keywords, content requirements, user journeys through the site, and how success will be measured. SEO is baked into the structure from the start, not bolted on at the end. You review and approve this before design begins.

Design

We build the visual system and page experience: layout, typography, imagery and responsive behaviour across desktop, tablet and mobile. You review the design at defined milestones, and nothing moves into development until you are satisfied with the direction.

Engineer

The approved design becomes a working platform. We develop the pages, integrate forms and any systems the site depends on, optimise for speed, and test across browsers and devices. Content and copy are finalised alongside the build, not left to the end.

Launch

Before the site goes live we complete a full pre-launch check: technical SEO, redirects, analytics, Search Console, sitemap submission, form delivery and deployment. Launch happens in a controlled way, with the previous site preserved until the new one is verified.

Improve

Launch is not the end. We use real performance data, including search rankings, traffic and customer behaviour, to guide future improvements. Ongoing maintenance and SEO retainers are available as separate services to keep the site working harder over time.
